Cambridge Weight Plan was launched in Cyprus in July 2006, as a result of the phenomenal world wide success of the Cambridge Diet. It was first launched in the UK in 1984 by Professor Alan Howard, in a bid to help reduce the growing obesity problem and associated illnesses, such as diabetes and heart disease.  Until 2005, Cambridge was part of the Howard Foundation, a non-profit-making charitable trust.  In 2005 the Howard family decided to sell the Company and was taken over by Cambridge Nutritional Foods Ltd in a management buyout by the existing senior managers.

The Cambridge Weight Plan in both the UK and Cyprus is a direct selling organization which operates through independent consultants and doctors.  They are selected, trained and accredited by the company and are required to comply with its Code of Conduct.

 Cambridge Weight Plan in Cyprus is run by Slimmerlife Ltd, headed by Managing Director, Helen Zenios, formerly Head of Business Studies and Cambridge Weight Plan Consultant in the UK. Her teaching experience, marketing skills and qualifications in business and management gave her an excellent grounding as distributor of the Cambridge Diet in Cyprus. Consultants not only undergo basic training but are continually trained and developed at national meetings every 3 months to ensure that they are all continually improving and working to high standards.
